Start the New Year with 0% On-Bill Financing and EverGreen!

The beginning of the New Year has many of us thinking about how we can improve our lives and protect the planet we live on. Upgrading the appliances in your home to all-electric, energy-efficient models is a way that you can achieve both.

0% on-bill financing: enjoy benefits now, pay over time.

Upgrading and replacing home appliances can be intimidating. Appliances aren’t cheap to begin with, and most new technologies like heat pump water heaters, are more expensive than their standard electric or gas counterparts. The up-front cost is usually enough to stop someone from switching to a more energy-efficient appliance, even if the financial and environmental savings down the road are greater.

This is why Sonoma Clean Power offers zero interest on-bill financing for select home technologies that customers can pay off through their monthly electricity bill. There is no credit check involved. If you are an SCP customer and your last three electricity bills were paid on time and in full, you are eligible for financing!

You can take advantage of zero interest financing for a number of qualifying home upgrades, including the installation of heat pump water heaters, heating and cooling systems, home battery backup systems, and more. SCP’s on-bill financing not only covers the appliance and installation costs, but any additional costs associated with the project. For example, if your contractor determines that a new electrical panel would be needed to install a heat pump water heater, the cost of the panel and labor could be paid off using our on-bill financing.

Customers can customize their monthly contribution and the length of time needed to complete their loan payments with zero interest, for up to 10 years depending on the total amount. SCP adds these monthly charges to the customer’s electricity until paid off.

Ready to upgrade an appliance without the painful up-front cost? Visit the Advanced Energy Center in downtown Santa Rosa to speak with an SCP team member about on-bill financing and get started.

At the Center, you can learn more about:

  • Finding a certified contractor for your project.
  • SCP’s rebates and incentives on select energy-efficient products.
  • New rebates and tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act.

EverGreen: power your life with 100% renewable, local energy.

If upgrading appliances isn’t in the cards for the New Year, switching your household to Sonoma Clean Power’s 100% renewable, locally generated EverGreen service can still make a big impact.

Choosing EverGreen is one of the simplest and most effective climate actions you can take. For the cost of only about $13 more per month (based on an average residential customer), EverGreen eliminates nearly all the greenhouse gas emissions from your electricity use.

Sonoma Clean Power is the only utility in California to offer the option of 100% renewable, locally generated energy 24/7. Using solar during the day and geothermal when the sun goes down, EverGreen provides renewable energy every day of the year.

EverGreen energy sources

The Geysers is one of the largest geothermal power plants in the world – and it’s right in our backyard! Geothermal energy is a baseload resource, meaning there is a constant supply. The Geysers generate renewable energy 24/7 by turning reclaimed water into steam. Four miles beneath the Earth's surface, magma converts the water to steam. The steam turns a large turbine, then a generator converts the turbine's momentum to electrical energy.

Local solar projects supply the other side of EverGreen. Sonoma Clean Power worked with local landowners and solar developers to build 6 megawatts (MW) of small-scale solar in Mendocino and Sonoma counties. That's enough to power 2,500 households!

As the commitment to EverGreen grows, so does SCP’s ability to build more local renewable energy sources.

Cities and counties walk the walk

Nine of SCP’s member cities and counties have switched all, or some, of their facilities to EverGreen. Kudos to the Cities of Cotati, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, and Sonoma, Mendocino and Sonoma Counties, and the Town of Windsor for leading the way.
