SCP's eBike Incentive Program

Due to overwhelming interest in SCP’s Bike Electric program, the program is now closed to new applications. Should the program re-open, this page will be updated with details.

Sonoma Clean Power is pleased to present our Bike Electric incentive program, to help income-qualified customers buy an electric bike (commonly called “eBikes”). Qualified SCP customers can receive a $1,000 incentive toward the purchase of select eBikes at participating retailers.

Through the “Bike Electric” program, SCP hopes to stimulate the local eBike market, further support the adoption of clean modes of transportation, and make eBikes accessible to residents who could benefit most from owning one.

About eBikes

Not sure what an eBike is? eBikes assist riders with power provided by an integrated motor and battery. Among the benefits of owning an eBike are faster, easier commutes, zero emissions, and no visits to the gas pump.

When compared to a traditional bike, eBikes allow riders to travel longer distances in a shorter amount of time. The extra range and assisted pedaling can help replace car trips, ease commutes to work, and solve the “last mile” issue some people face when using public transit.

Choose an eBike to fit your lifestyle.

Get where you’re going faster with less effort! With 20 different brands at prices starting at $1,500, our participating retailers have a eBike fit for you. Check with stores for available sizes, colors, and models.

Eligibility and Application

Any Sonoma Clean Power customer on our reduced CARE/FERA rates is eligible to participate in this program. We also accept proof of participation in several income-qualified programs such as SNAP (aka food stamps), Medicaid/Medical, Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI), Women Infants and Children (WIC), Head Start, and many others. To inquire whether a program is part of our approved list, please contact us at or 1 (855) 202-2139.

To qualify for your $1,000 voucher, submit an application. Make sure to have your PG&E account number and any documentation from an income-qualified program ready to upload. Once your application has been approved, we’ll send you a voucher by mail that you can take to any participating retailer to get $1,000 off the price of an eligible eBike.

All eligible bikes are California Class 1 or Class 2 and cost a maximum of $3,500. Mountain bikes and road bikes are not eligible. Due to current conditions, not all eligible eBikes are available at all participating retailers and customers may need to place an order. Vouchers are valid from March 8, 2021 to September 8, 2021, or until program funds are depleted (whichever comes first).

Additional Benefits

Second, we are partnering with the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition to provide free in-person training on eBike safety and best practices.

Introduction to Electric Bikes

This 60-minute webinar will cover what an electric bike (eBike) is, what types of models are available, the difference in speed compared to a regular bike, and the distance that eBikes can travel. Additionally, safety considerations and local laws will be discussed. You will also learn about the upcoming SCP eBike rebate program that will be available soon.
