Electric Vehicles “Make the Cut” for 10 Local Nonprofits

Published on 01/09/2020

SCP’s EV incentive program is helping organizations transition to clean energy vehicles!

There are numerous nonprofits in Sonoma and Mendocino counties that help make our communities healthier, happier, and safer. But with such a rural region to cover, it’s no surprise that for organizations who transport people or products on a daily basis, the cost of transportation and emissions from travel can add up quickly.

That’s why SCP created an incentive program to help the nonprofits in our service territory make the switch from gas-powered vehicles to clean electric vehicles (EVs). Not only do EVs save their owners money on fuel and maintenance, but they also help improve air quality by reducing tailpipe emissions and promoting the use of more renewable energy.

SCP offers a reimbursement of up to $12,500 to nonprofits that purchase a plug-in electric vehicle with a battery range of at least 25 miles. If the vehicle costs less than $12,500, the incentive covers the entire cost.

Since the start of the program, ten local nonprofits have purchased an electric vehicle! The list includes PDI Surgery Center, PEP Housing, GreenAcre Homes and School, LandPaths, Mendocino Land Trust, Sonoma County Medical Association, Agricultural Community Events Farmers Markets, The Center for Social and Environmental Stewardship, Point Blue, and GRID Alternatives.

In 2020, we want to help even more organizations reduce their emissions and achieve their sustainability goals. If you know of any nonprofits in Sonoma or Mendocino counties that could benefit from our EV incentive, please encourage them to apply for the program.
