Thousands of Dollars Are Now Available to Help You Rebuild an Energy-Efficient Home

Last October, Sonoma and Mendocino counties experienced one of the largest, most destructive wildfires in the history of California. Now, as residents begin the daunting and emotional process of rebuilding, support from the community is more important than ever.

Sonoma Clean Power is proud to partner with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to incentivize homeowners to rebuild energy-efficient homes with incentives up to $17,500.

The Advanced Energy Rebuild Program offers two incentive packages dedicated specifically to SCP and PG&E customers in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties who lost their homes in the October 2017 wildfires. To meet the requirements of either incentive package, residents may choose between a flexible performance pathway or a simple “checklist” path.

The first incentive level is the Advanced Energy Home option, which offers an incentive of $7,500 to homeowners who choose to build 20% more efficient than the Title 24 energy code and install these mandatory home features:

  • 220v outlets at stove/range, water heater, and clothes dryer locations for future installation of electric appliances.
  • Roofs designed for the additional weight associated with solar panels and the installation of conduit needed for solar installation.
  • Installation of one electric vehicle charging station.

The second incentive level, or All Electric Home option, offers $12,500 to those who build high efficiency, all-electric homes without natural gas service.

As a bonus, an additional $5,000 can be added on to either incentive package (totaling $12,500 or $17,500, respectively) for homes that install a solar panel system with a battery storage or homes that pre-purchase a 20-year commitment to 100% local renewable power through either SCP’s EverGreen service or PG&E’s Solar Choice program.

Incentives are available exclusively for SCP and PG&E customers with homes, condominiums, apartments, or accessory dwelling units that were destroyed by the October 2017 wildfires. Funds are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis to projects that meet the program requirements. This program will expire December 31, 2019 or once funding is depleted.

In addition to the Advanced Energy Rebuild incentives, we’ve partnered on a series of trainings, starting in July, hosted at the North Coast Builders Exchange. These trainings focus on areas such as building high performance walls, designing efficient plumbing systems, and many other great topics.
