Want to earn some money while helping ease the strain on the electrical grid and preventing blackouts? Now's your chance.
Sonoma Clean Power is launching GridSavvy Rewards Alerts for the 2023 summer season!
GridSavvy Rewards Alerts incentivizes customers to use less electricity during times of increased demand. Receive a $25 bonus (while funding lasts) when you enroll and earn extra rewards whenever you take part in an "Energy Saving Event".
There are no penalties if you don’t reduce your energy use, only rewards when you do.
I find using GridSavvy helps me to be more aware of my energy usage during peak times and maybe hold off on doing laundry or running the dishwasher. Making these small changes last summer resulted in a check for almost $50. I hardly felt like I did anything at all to earn it, but it was nice to get it in the mail.

Sonoma Clean Power calls an Energy Saving Event when the demand for electricity is high and the electrical grid is stressed. We alert our customers by text or email up to 24 hours beforehand, informing them of the opportunity to earn rewards by saving energy. An Energy Saving Event usually lasts between 1-4 hours, often between 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., and may occur a few times per month. You can choose to save energy however makes sense for you.
There are many benefits to receiving these alerts, both financial and environmental. In addition to the $25 bonus (while funding lasts) received upon sign-up, customers earn $2 for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) saved during an Energy Saving Event. A single kWh is roughly equal to the amount of electricity required for one dishwasher cycle. GridSavvy Rewards Alerts can also help customers form habits that will help them save energy every day.
Customers receive their payouts once a year by check or can choose to donate their rewards to one of our non-profit community partners.
GridSavvy Rewards Alerts aims to reduce the strain on the California electrical grid during peak demand periods. When everyone is using a lot of electricity at the same time, it puts a lot of pressure on the grid. This can lead to power outages or other problems. By rewarding customers for reducing their energy use during these times, we can ease some of this pressure and reduce the risk of grid failures.
One of the most obvious benefits of enrolling in GridSavvy Rewards Alerts is that it can help you save money on your energy bills. By reducing energy usage during peak demand periods, you can avoid costly peak pricing rates. This can add up to significant savings over time, especially for households that use a lot of electricity.
Another benefit of receiving our alerts is that they help customers understand the importance of conserving energy. By providing tips for reducing energy usage, these alerts can help you identify areas where you might be wasting energy and recognize the impact your actions have on the grid. Over time, small changes can add up to significant energy savings and a more efficient home.
Sign up for GridSavvy Rewards Alerts today and help ease the strain on the grid, while making a few bucks at the same time!
I encourage others to enroll in GridSavvy. It’s easy, does not negatively impact your life at all, and serves as a reminder for what you can do to reduce your energy usage.
